Kate Rude, LMFT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist #99789 & Clinical Supervisor (she/they)
*Legal name: Kathleen Rude Carlin
Psychotherapy has the greatest impact when it is collaborative and interactive, and much (if not all) of what traumatizes us is related to other humans. So, I believe that the interpersonal connection with one's (presumably, human - fuck off AI) therapist is essential to healing. I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, empowering space where, together, we can explore, process & tackle the elements of life that challenge you, and celebrate your successes, joys & self-realization. I welcome your whole self into our time together - whether you’re feeling messy, angry, despondent or euphoric, I appreciate your complex inner world and hope to help you fully embrace it.
I am very passionate about the power of somatic work (bringing the body/nervous system) in the therapeutic process. We can get so disconnected from our body when we're activated but it offers SO much information about what is happening for us in any given moment. I find that somatic work deepens one's ability to process experiences & provides an ever-present tool for self-care & stress management.
For a decade now, I’ve worked with folks who do all sorts of things with their lives - Including, but not limited to, artists, musicians, filmmakers, actors & writers, folks in the tech industry, & those in professional care-giving roles, including psychotherapists. I have a great deal of experience working with the children and partners of those who exhibit traits of narcissism & borderline personality disorder. As well, I love working with the LGBTQIA2SP+ community & those who explore expansive relationship structures (ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, kink, etc.). I strive to work through a lens that is feminist, queer-affirming, sex-positive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist and trauma-informed.
I completed my associateship at the Antioch University Counseling Center, a community clinic that prioritizes social justice, equity & intersectionality, where I now continue on as a clinical supervisor.
I’d love to hear from you & welcome the opportunity to be with you during your work toward deeper self-knowing.
